A reasonable man must fear serious bodily injury or death was imminent. That means going to happen right now this moment. I can also use deadly force to stop a rape or kidnapping. Stand your ground has additional criteria and the Castle doctrine is not absolute

The Goode case met that standard because driving a 4000 pound car to escape created an imminent threat. If I was involved I would have shot the tires not her.
The Pretti case didnt come close to meeting the legal standard.
I would add mental health records to the background check.

Given how many gun homicides we have vs. how few justifiable homicides we have with guns, the tradeoff doesn't seem worth it.

Every time we have a mass shooting, we find out two things.

1) Everyone in that person's life knew they were nuts.
