Serious question to any leftists out there who believe the attacks on Facebook over Trump are a legitimate issue and not a contrived political one.

You don't pay for Facebook. Their business model is to sell your data to advertisers for targeted marketing. If you have a Facebook account and don't know that. Well, now you do. I'm not sure how you thought they made money and stayed in business.

I'm not getting the issue here. They sold customer data to Obama and Democrats, they sold customer data to Trump. I put nothing on Facebook that I don't want my boss to see. Just like Linked In. I post nothing political ever because my Facebook page doesn't say "kaz," it says my real name. Ahmad Jazzeera Mohamed. Oops, I need to cross that out.

I see no issue either when Democrats do it. That's what Facebook is. I didn't answer polls during the election even though I live in North Carolina. I don't post political stuff on Facebook. That's what Facebook is. What is the issue? Please explain.

The retarded left just need a new scapegoat for the election loss. Russia collusion is a nothing burger and they know it. A porn star affair is great news to embarrass the Donald but it won’t get him booted from office and it can’t take the blame for the Hillary loss either.

The regressive left above all else need to feel justified in their belief of the Agenda. Thus, they can never concede a loss or that the public rejected their Agenda. So they must have something to blame for their loss.

I believe there is some question as to whether FB violated their own privacy rules since information mostly came from users that were friends of people taking the quiz. Europe has strong privacy laws so FB may be in serious trouble there.

Can you explain that a little more clearly? I don't understand what you mean by "information mostly came from users that were friends of people taking the quiz." Not being snarky, I'm not clear what you said. And it sounded like you were giving a sincere answer.

If FB did violate their own privacy rules, that would be a good answer to my question. I want to be clearer about that though

I don't understand what you mean by "information mostly came from users that were friends of people taking the quiz."
If someone took the quiz/survey, Cambridge Analytica would read their friends list and pull that friends personal information. About 270,000 people took the Cambridge Analytica quiz but Cambridge Analytica managed to get personal info on 50 million FB users.

Ah, thanks!

But FB sells personal information for targeted advertising, so how could that be against FB's privacy policy? That's what they do

They ask users accept their "Terms of Service" where FB spells out how your information will be used. If they violate their own terms or they violate the privacy laws in the host country they are liable.

I understand that. I mean more specifically. Their business is collecting and selling personal information. What specifically would they put in their terms of use that would limit them from doing that?

I understand at a high level what you're saying and I agree that if they violated their own privacy agreement that would be serious.

But more specifically, I have a hard time believing they put in their privacy policy that they won't do what their business model is based on doing

You're welcome to read the terms, I'm sure they're online. You might be the very first to do so.

OK. So to be clear, and I don't mean this snarky, I'm asking. You are saying that it could be an issue if they violated their privacy policy? Is that a fair summary? I would agree with that BTW. I'm just saying it's not compelling that without more it is actually an issue

Yes. Their user agreement should have the force of law like any other contract. You can sue for damages if they violate the contract.

Targeting voters. Apparently they know everything you've done on, likes, groups, etc. and can set positive or negative messages to get you to think their way.
