Trump today: thousands of 82nd Airborne to Iran. Trump last week: 2,000 US Marines. Trump the day before that: I'm not putting troops "anywhere."

Trump Deploys 82nd Airborne Troops to Iran After Last Week Deploying Thousands More US Marines, Bringing Total to over 6,000 Troops in Fight for Greater Israel

AP reports on March 24, 2026 that Trump has ordered thousands of troops from the US 82 Airborne to the US and Israeli attack on Iran.

AP:

“The troops are to be sent in the coming days, according to three people with knowledge of the plans.

The unit is considered the Army’s emergency response force and can typically be deployed on short notice. The force would include a battalion of the 1st Brigade Combat Team as well as Maj. Gen. Brandon Tegtmeier, the division’s commander, and division staff, according to the people, who spoke Tuesday on condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive military plans or private conversations.

It’s the latest addition of troops after U.S. officials said last week that thousands of Marines aboard several Navy ships would head to the region.”

Today’s announcement comes after USA Today reported on March 20, 2026 that thousands of US Marines were headed to the Middle East. That report stated that this brought the total deployed by Trump to the Iran attack to 5,000.

Last week’s announcement followed an assertion by Trump on the day before that he was not putting troops “anywhere.”

The US and Israeli policy of attacking and decimating Arab countries over the past decades since 9/11 has increasingly been identified as fitting a long-held vision among Israeli politicians of a “Greater Israel.”

In other news,

— Recently resigned, Trump-appointed Director of the National Counterterrorism Center Joe Kent has added his voice to the those saying that Iran was not close to a nuclear weapon, and that “The Israelis drove the decision to take this action [to attack Iran.]” This has been echoed in a recent piece in Scientific American, and by former UN Weapons Inspector for Iraq Hans Blix. Scientific American reported:

Iraq UN Weapons Inspector Hans Blix: ‘There is No Evidence Iran Was Moving Toward a Nuclear Weapon’

— Secretary of State Marco Rubio admitted that the US attack on Iran was prompted by the Israeli decision to attack. Rubio said in a press conference:

— US soldier casualties as a result of the attacks on Iran have reached 14 with over 230 wounded.

—Former UN Weapons Inspector Scott Ritter, and corroborating sources, say many of the hundreds of schoolchildren killed in the Mirab elementary school strike were burned alive by a Tomahawk thermobaric weapon, which Trump has confirmed was the weapon used in the strike.

Some YT channel said there were like 50,000 soldiers already at all the bases in the Middle East. Plus, these new ones you mentioned.
