So I'm watching the press conference with Trump and Mark Carney (see below) and Trump said this, verbatim, with Carney sitting right there: "Well, we don't do much business with Canada from our standpoint".

In reality, we export more to Canada than any other country (see below).

So Carney gently corrected him. It was just like another press conference (see below), where Trump said that Europe's aid to Ukraine was a loan, and Macron gently corrected him right away, saying no, it's not a loan.

So what do you think: Is Trump lying, or is he just ignorant? I don't know how it would be something else, but if you have another theory, please feel free to post it.

I see that Trump's very true and extremely relevant point flew way the **** over your head.

Look at the relevant facts.

Canada's standpoint: 75% of Canada's foreign trade is with the USA.

USA standpoint: Only 14% of US foreign trade is with Canada.

From our standpoint, we don't do much business with Canada. We have all the leverage.

Trump’s “we don’t do much business with Canada from our standpoint” claim is too subjective to render a definitive fact-check verdict

Looks like your fact-checker doesn't back up your rather silly and economically illiterate TDS afflicted delusional rambling.
You're upset. I'm sorry.

I don’t think he’s lying on purpose, just that he got the numbers mixed up. It happens, numbers can be confusing

So Trump's comments were true even though they demonstrably were not. Saying that business with the #1 export country is "not much" is simply not true.

Okay!

Any other tries? Maybe we just stick with the spin already provided?

Trump reminded Carney Barker that they need us wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy more than we need them

So even basic business ideas escape you, huh?

If someone frequents your bakery every day and buys a dozen donuts, your business is that person's chief supplier of donuts.

But if you sell thousands of donuts a day to other customers, you are not going to miss that person's dozen donuts a day.

THIS IS NOT DIFFICULT

Canada: "you must supply me blueberry donuts!"

US: "Yeah, we don't make blueberry donuts"

Canada: "But you have to! I'm in here every day! I'm your best customer!"

US: "Actually, you are here often, but we have a boatload of customers"

Canada: "HMPH! Fine! I'll take my business elsewhere!"

US: "There's the door then"

THIS IS NOT DIFFICULT

Are you being purposefully Stupid ?

Here are three Deep State poster boy figures met to mislead and deceive and you cannot see the humour and splendid Theatre ?
These three self serving Elitists are there to fool and scam the Sheeple and that includes you .

Hint.
When have you ever seen Macron associated with anything but rubbish and nonsense? Ever .

All done with a simple PR public display whilst Holocaust 2.0 continues in Gaza and everybody pretends to be distracted by Tariffs and Trivia .

Trumpsters don't know this, of course, but no business owner in their right mind is going to insult a client who represents 16% of their business.

"In their right mind" being the operative phrase, obviously.

MAGA thinks the way to intelligently conduct foreign relations and international trade is to tell other countries "you need us more than we need you", while mocking, insulting, trolling, threatening, bullying and punishing them. Oh, and lying to their face.

Typical.

The demented LEFT (Mac) will ALWAYS take what Trump says, VERBATIM, and proceed to twist, twirl, and spin it into what they FEEL he means.
Every. *******. Time.
A NARRATIVE is born, and they go howler monkey mode for a week or so on their invented talking point.
Trump is a shit talking troll. You CANNOT take things he SAYS off the cuff seriously. When he's serious, you know it.
When he shit talks, the demented LEFT know it, but they CHOOSE to run with their interpretation false narrative anyway.
That is EXACTLY what this thread is.

It was a total shit show! It go so bad, Carney had to tell Trump, Canada is not for sale :happy-1::happy-1:

He wasn't lying.

I've verified the numbers. Trump made a very astute observation.

A mere 14% percent of our foreign trade is with Canada while a whopping 75% of Canada's foreign trade is with the USA.

Those numbers are perfectly consistent with Trump's statement "we don't do a lot of business with Canada from our standpoint, they do a lot of business with us."

Of note is the fact that the disturbingly desperate and disgustingly dishonest OP crudely cut that crushing comment in half to curtail it's inconvenient context.

That certainly tells you something about the content of his character, doesn't it?
