If American soldiers desperately needed supplies, and the air was the only way to do it, you would say starve to death, it is too much trouble.

Jets can be flown to Navy bases or Air Force bases on the East Coast. Helicopters can be ferried out to the carrier and the pilots can take them out. What the carrier serves as is a floating airport. We are talking about something that happened a number of days ago not yesterday.
