There was a time we did not have the social programs. There was a time when people came here from overseas, we demanded they have an education and/or trade and a sponsor. Some were illegals. Most of the technology that private companies are capitalizing on in the area of computing, artificial intelligence, robotics, and modern rocketry was researched and developed mostly by governments, not the private sector. Private companies want profits, and to spend most of their overhead on marketing, and production, not research and development.
Moreover, capitalism must serve the country, and not prioritize profits for it to function properly, for the public good. Without a nationalist, socialist (social-oriented government) authority, capitalists become the plutocratic, oligarchal, aristocratic authority. Government is always a dictatorship, what makes it good or bad is its priorities. When profits become the government's priority, capitalism grossly commodifies and exploits human beings, dehumanizing the working class (the consumer) and eventually destroying the country, in pursuit of vested interests. That Jewish Zionist banker-capitalist-run government will have us involved in perpetual wars, burning coal for electricity in 2024, because nuclear energy is supposedly unsafe, and sending welfare checks with weapons to Israhell and Zelensky.
