Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy Says Sanctuary Cities Won’t Receive Federal Tax Dollars to Repair Riot Damage

16 Jun 2025 ~~ By Jim Hoft

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation will not be bailing out so-called “sanctuary cities” that defy federal immigration laws or allow rioters to torch transportation infrastructure.
“The @USDOT will NOT fund rogue state actors who refuse to cooperate with federal immigration enforcement,” Duffy stated bluntly on X.
“And to cities that stand by while rioters destroy transportation infrastructure — don’t expect a red cent from DOT, either. Follow the law, or forfeit the funding.”
Duffy’s statement is a direct response to President Trump’s renewed call to crack down on Democrat-run cities that harbor illegal immigrants and enable chaos.

This hardline tactic follows Duffy’s April 24 directive—under the “Follow the Law” banner—threatening to cut funding for agencies embracing DEI programs or turning a blind eye to illegal immigration.

“Federal grants come with a clear obligation to adhere to federal laws,” said U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy. “It shouldn’t be controversial – enforce our immigration rules, end anti-American DEI policies, and protect free speech. These values reflect the priorities of the American people, and I will take action to ensure compliance.”

Commentary:
Why would cities need money to repair 'Riot Damage' when according to the Democrat Governors, Congress persons, Mayors and Media tell us there were no riots, only peaceful protests?
Will NGO's pay up and repair the damage created by the rioters?
Strangely J-6'ers were blamed for damages done to the Capitol.

As compared to the arson, looting during the civil unrest following George Floyd's death in 2020, the estimated cost of damages from those riots is between $1 billion and $2 billion, with significant property damage across multiple cities. The protests also resulted in numerous injuries and fatalities.
The damages by "No Kings" and anarchist Left wing thugs cost millions in Los Angeles, New York, and other Sanctuary cities.
Certainly some businesses are covered by insurance, that takes time and many businesses do not survive.
Additionally, business owners must pay higher rates for insurance which means higher prices to the consumers.
When Governors and mayors restrict their law enforcement from doing their job to keep the peace they're violating their oaths of office and to the people they represent.
They should personally be held responsible for their actions.

How is that exactly? It's the people of these cities who ran around acting like zoo animals released from their cages engaging in destruction. It's the people of these cities who elected the emasculated leaders who let them do it. It's the people of these cities who can foot the bill for their choices.

Doc; there are multiple problematic issues that the rank & file statist lefties suffer under ESPECIALLY their street urchins. For an example from my perspective I see three primary issues contributing to the total lack of morality within the general statist left community that I list below.

1) Poor parenting(generational).
2) Lack of work ethic.
3) Political corruption.

Poor parenting can effect parents regardless of their political, religious, physical origin & ethnicity. The parents that align with the statist left religion, as can be seen in present day America, tend to raise the most combative, violent/primitive offspring in my opinion.

Lack of a work ethic leads to government(tax dollar$) dependency which leads to illegal activity to gain under the table money to preserve their "Tent City Lifestyle". The tax burden to support these unproductive vagrants has driven up the co$t of living for productive employed Americans substantially.

Political corruption is so rampant in all levels of government & in both the major parties as to be far beyond just scandalous. Kick backs, power plays & corporate favoritism has helped plenty in reducing the quality of life for all Americans, I mean take a look @ the cost of new housing alone, not to mention the price for food purchased through the supermarkets. Speaking of the rising price of food purchases the below link well illustrates just ONE reason food purchases are so $pendy in America today.

I'd say "KICK BACKS"(political corruption) are @ the root of the problem as far as I can see. The main negative issue with the JD corporation is obviously power & control(PC) which = $$$$$. For the small time farmers that only work a quarter section(160 acres) on down the below image shows what happens when political corruption(inflation) hits a farming community, purchasing equipment for cannibalizing to repair a similar model of equipment for new equipment is just too expensive.

Nothing political about holding people abd their cities accountable for burning and looting and then expecting the US Taxpayer to restore it.

Cities might get more support frik the US taxpayer to clean up if the city leaders put more effort into preventing or quelling riots instead of fomenting them.
