I think that handle serves a multi-purpose. Mostly for pulling the bike onto the center stand.

True, do they even put center stands on bikes anymore (Harleys, Honda, sport bikes, touring bikes, etc.)? I think all bikes should have them but not sure if all bikes do.

Some bikes, like BMW, only offer them as an option. The bigger the bike the more they are needed because of unstable soft ground or when there isn't enough room to park, but the extra weight makes a big bike harder to meet emissions standards.
