Today's date marks 48 years since the death of Elvis Presley..........

I remember where I was at when a guy I worked with told Elvis has left the planet.

I saw Elvis perform at the Spectrum in Philadelphia.

He played for like a hour and that was it.

No encore ! People were shocked !

I was in a Radio Shack store in Phoenix, Arizona when I heard the news. I was wasting time in there before going to watch the first Star Wars movie!

What are some of your favorite songs by the wonderful singer? Mine include "Hound Dog", Don't Be Cruel", "Mystery Train", "Suspicious Minds" and "In The Ghetto".
Suspicious minds but if I could only hear him sing one song live it would be Burning Love

Elvis was before my time but I enjoy almost all of his recordings. Probably the greatest rock performer of all time.

If Chuck Berry has been White, Presley would never have happened. Berry had more talent by far.

I was on a roof helping my grandfather reroof his house... I heard the news on my small transistor radio... then they played this song...

It's sad he died so young. His manager drove him to an early grave.

You mean you wasted a trip there and didn't even stop to get your battery card punched??? :shok:

We know it's been a long time......but ya didn't have to say it out loud. Now I feel really old sigh

I loved his music and a bunch of us would do 'dance offs' and many of his songs were a given.......this was one of my favorites for dancing.

I was on my knees scrubbing a hallway in an army barracks when on one of the newspapers spread out on the floor to soak up the moisture I saw a report that Elvis had died. I was an ardent fan. His best songs for me are his pre-conscription period and the early 60s.

Elvis became so hyped and so much larger in death than he was in life that one night when my kid was about 11 yo, I pointed out to him a really good Elvis movie that was on TV. He watched about a minute of it and then asked me “Who’s playing Elvis?”.

Chuck Berry was great but nobody would have heard from him or other black artists if it weren't for Elvis. He brought R&B music into the mainstream.
