Time for Republican and Democrat leaders in both chambers of Congress to make some concessions to get the negotiations started to reopen the government!.
Republicans should take the position we were right the Democrats should have passed a clean CR to fund the government like political parties have done form time memorial and then we could have negotiated over the health care system in the appropriation bills that would have needed to be passed by Nov. 21 when the CR expired, but now after 28 days of shutdown the harm being done to the country makes the welfare and well being of the country the top priority so we will commence negotiations on this provided the Democrats give a little specifically the following. The Democrats should agree to pass a bill that pays essential workers and the Republicans will agree to bring up for a vote every five days including in the Senate a bill to fund all federal workers meaning the ones furloughed because of the shutdown because of course these furloughed workers and their families are victims of Washington politics.

The reason why Democrats should take this deal is because currently you guys have a gun to the Republicans head negotiate over healthcare or millions of America families will go without a paycheck income coming in (this includes federal contract worker families) so what if Republicans succumb to this pressure and say don't care about solving the policy problems the Democrats are raising just offer the minimum deal that will open the government just offer a deal that will create enormous political pressure on the Democrats to breakdown and agree to the minimalist deal to reopen the government. What am I talking about? Currently around twenty million Americans get insurance premium tax credits to buy individual health insurance on the ACA exchanges what if Republicans say you Democrats want us to capitulate and begin negotiations now over the health care system okay you got what you want we offer to extend the enhanced premium tax credits at the same funding level today for twelve million of those families the rest of the government funding is wasteful spending we won't agree to. Democrat leadership is duping themselves to think such a deal under the current pressure won't pressure enough Democrat members of Congress to agree to pass the CR with these minimalist health care system terms and then Democrat leadership will have won the battle but lost the war to make and maintain a good health care system for the American people. Political leadership in Washington in both parties time to act like quality political leaders and find a way to breakdown and breakthrough this logjam that is keeping the Federal Government shuttered!

CRs aren't for negotiating new spending.

Summary

The program activities of most federal agencies are generally funded on an annual basis through the enactment of regular appropriations acts. When those annual appropriations acts are not enacted by the beginning of the fiscal year (October 1), one or more continuing appropriations acts (commonly known as continuing resolutions or CRs) may be enacted to provide temporary funding to continue certain programs and activities until action on the regular appropriations acts is completed.

There are six main features of CRs.

First, CRs have provided funding for certain activities (coverage), which are typically specified with reference to the prior fiscal year's appropriations acts.

Second, CRs provide budget authority for a specified duration of time. This duration may be as short as a single day or as long as the remainder of the fiscal year.

Third, in recent practice, CRs have typically provided funds based on an overall funding rate rather than in specified amounts.

Fourth, the use of budget authority provided in the CR has been prohibited for new activities not funded in the previous fiscal year.

Fifth, the duration and amount of funds in the CR, and purposes for which they may be used for specified activities, may be adjusted through anomalies.

Sixth, legislative provisions—which create, amend, or extend other laws—have been included in some instances.

Republican should give nothing. It is just a several week extension that may get several weeks anyway. Remember Pelosi ripping up the papers at SOTU with Trump. That is what we are dealing with. They cause the movement to communism and other insanities and now have a hard time reining it in.

Seems like it’s dawning on the blob that he’s (rightfully so) being blamed for all of the dischord and turmoil.
Not really, the unions are blaming democrats. Thune should go nuclear for CRs, Appropriations, and Rescissions.

Repubs are not currently willing to negotiate.

The first minuscule compromise is for the Democrats to vote to open the government.

If the federal government was very small and strictly limited in the manner in which it was intended, then the monstrosity that it has become would not affect so many things.

I find it repugnant that so many in the electorate demand such a monstronsity continue to be propped up.

Government is force. And the more government you ask for, the more you'll get and the more force you'll be subjected to.

There is no compromising with such an entity.

It does not want ''compromise.''

It only wants its constant thirst for more and more intrusion and control over you quenched. It only wants you to submit.

And running the fear gambit is how it usually tends to accomplish that endeavor.

The single biggest threat to Indvidual liberty, peace and prosperity is government. The Framers understood this. As did the competent society of their time. It's why the constitution was designed to limit government. Not to limit the people. This is why it was structured to be very small and to be strictly limited.

Again. There is no ''compromising'' with such an entity.

90 percent of government needs to be gutted and completely shut down and we'd be better off as a country.

This is what ''compromise gets you...

The Moderate Vote... (1).webp

Which, btw, is largely brought to us by the so-called ''moderate'' vote. And the monstrosity that government has become as a consequence loves them for it...
