I can remember when the standard tipping rate for eating at a restaurant was 15% Now less than 20% is considered a low tip. How high can the standard tip go!

Plus, the food itself has gone up, AND they expect a tip at self-service counters as well. So, for a cheap self-serve lunch that used to cost $11, it is now $15 plus a tip of 20% (if you give it), for a total of $18.

Or, at a full-service restaurant, what used to cost $20 for lunch plus a 15% tip for a total of $23 is now a base of $25 plus 20% for a total of $30. And where I live, the minimum wage for servers is $15 an hour. Figure they have three tables at lunch, with each table having 2 guests each order a $25 lunch. That means $5 tip x 6 = $30 in tips alone, PLUS the base wage for a total of $45 an hour.
