Kevin Costner destroyed any lasting legacy of Yellowstone by leaving the show and allowing his character, John Dutton, to be murdered. The whole thing turned from acceptably dark to tragic with no redeeming conclusions that could leave one feeling satisfied.
Regarding the spinoff, "Marshals" the connection to the Yellowstone saga couldn't be more tenuous, like sewing a mismatched patch on a fine garment. The plotlines are shallow and predictable, the characters hardly credible, and the acting painful to watch. The scenes are overburdened with dialogue seemingly intended to fill out the characters resume but instead comes off contrived and gratuitous. The whole thing is like watching a "Jungle Jim" movie starring an aging Johnny Weissmuller who in his prime was Tarzan.
