This week from the “Whom the Gods Would Destroy…” file, I look at why politicians are campaigning on bizarre promises like these:

And millions of lemmings wildly cheer. We have some of those lemmings right on this board.

• Vote for me and I will kill your babies.
• Vote for me and I will cut your food chain to save the polar bears.
• Vote for me and I will take away your car.
• Vote for me and I will make sure you don’t own your own home.
• Vote for me and I will castrate your kids.
• Vote for me and I will open your borders and devalue your currency.
• Vote for me and I will forcibly inject you with The Kool-Aid.
• Vote for me and I will euthanize your useless old parents.
• Vote for me and I will take away all your civil liberties, except for your right to die.

We've moved well beyond politics, obviously. This is a religion whose followers are religious zealots -- freaked out, paranoid folks who are ready to sacrifice everything, even their lives, for the new Creed.​

The car thing always amazes me. Extremists expect a person to carry their 10 bags of groceries from the bus stop/subway to their apartment 6 blocks away. They expect a family of four to use a two seater car.

Research consistently shows polar bears have increased over the decades.

Of course, you never really own your home. Don't pay your property taxes, and see how long it takes for the real owners to show up.

But politicians do not make those literal promises .

They may imply or insinuate them , but that is an entirely different matter .

They simply disguise their true intentions from stupid and gullible people .
So What?

That is apparently a good enough and OK strategy for their Gods whom they worship but is apparently unnacceptable from their fellows .According to you .

The logic of that seems rather wonky .

Regardless , you are complaining on behalf of the Stupids and Gullibles?
But for what reasons and likely better outcome?

Don't Stupids and Gullibles need some very tough love in the vague hope that they might learn something eventually ?
