We owe ourselves to understand law. Not so we practice law, but so we know a lot more than we do now.
To use an analogy, chess grandmasters have a vast experience with the game of chess. For a checkers player to discuss chess, it makes virtually no sense. Same with law. If we are ignorant about law, how can we intelligently discuss it?
