Back in the Ellis island days immigrants were vetted
Now they are not, because they've skipped what was the process for the sake of sanctuary
Now we get dependents who are a liability
~S~
Actually, they are vetted at the border, after capture or turning themselves in, they are put in detention, until the border patrol agent conducts his interview with them one on one...that crossing is called an ENCOUNTER......
The border agent vetter, determines if they meet the criteria for an asylum seeker and are legally allowed in as an asylum seeker, until their court date and a judge makes the final decision. If the judge says no, then the seeker gets deported immediately.
AFTER VETTING INTERVIEW, those determined not to meet the asylum seeker criteria, border patrol DOES NOT LET those encounters in to our country, and takes them from detention and deports back to their own country when the USA has a program with them, or turns them back loose in to Mexico, where they came from....
ONLY THOSE VETTED by border patrol that meets their asylum seeker criteria, are let in to our country to await their immigration determination court date.
MORE than half those people (those encounters) attempting to get in, are DENIED ENTRY and returned to Mexico or their homeland IMMEDIATELY following their vetting interview.
Only the asylum seekers after vetting, are let in, with few exceptions....for example minors crossing the border without any adult, are let in as well....and we take custody.
