My wife and daughter both work in senior memory care and in hospice. They have validated this movie as 100 percent accurate. All of the people you see in the nursing homes in this movie are just like real life.
This movie director's grandmother was victimized by con artists, and that was his inspiration for this movie. There is a short clip of his grandma during the final credits.
Unfortunately, the con in this movie is all too commonly used against the elderly.
In this movie, the victim, Thelma, decides to track down the predators and get her money back.
From your perspective and mine, this is not an action movie. But from the perspective of a 93 year old woman, this is action-packed.
Hilarious slow motion action, but action nonetheless.
Even better, Thelma's involuntary partner in getting revenge is none other than Richard Roundtree.
You know. Shaft. The original. Richard Roundtree, man. Who's the cat that won't cop out when there's danger all about?
Thelma and Ben (Roundtree) are the only people with any spine in this movie. Not even the bad guys have balls, which is always the case with con artists.
A great movie worthy of Rotten Tomatoes' 98 percent critic/83 percent audience rating.
