I don't know if this is "travel" or not, but the S.O. and I have arranged to spend February and March in the Villages in 2026.
It is truly "Disneyland" for geezers. Virtually unlimited golf, live entertainment every single night at four different venues, unlimited things to do, from golf to tennis to pickle ball to swimming, card games, hiking, biking, working out, fishing, boating...you name it.
With the right location (I think we have it), you can do almost everything you need to do with just a golf cart. The weather is 90% fabulous and there is lots to do when the weather is crappy.
Although rental rates are "high" - the owners want to pay their entire year's mortgage payments on jan-apr rentals - our two months will cost just a little more than a 12-day ocean or river cruise. We could have low-balled it for half the cost, but why would we?
Everyone you meet is of a similar age and most are quite sociable, otherwise why would they be there? One minor downside is that the churches are filled to overflowing every Sunday (and the pastors beg you to give generously even though you don't live there).
We timed it so that we could get a taste of Winter in Pittsburgh before heading South, and by the time we come back at the beginning of April, Spring will be "right around the corner."
Hope nothing goes wrong in the meantime.
