Prof. Malkin's articles discuss the non-religious humanistic ethics that he says are prevalent in the lifestyle of most Jews in Israel and around the world today. Malkin perceives Judaism as a pluralistic culture - both secular and religious.

He claims that Judaism has been pluralistic since Biblical times, when the Hebrews' culture was characterized by the existence of multiple deities, religions, rituals, beliefs and opinions. In the Hellenistic era, different cultures, beliefs and opinions developed in Judaism.

“In an interview with Ynet a year ago, Prof. Malkin said that "Many are not aware of the fact the Jewish culture has always been pluralistic. Our ancestors worshipped Astarte and Baal for two-thirds of the time the Temple existed. So, what, they weren't Jews? They didn't speak Hebrew? 'Judaism' is the culture of the Jewish people, in the broad sense of the world; it also contains a religious culture of some kind. In fact, everything we create today in art, music and folklore - it's all Judaism."

So this was not Palestinians, but orthodox jews.

You keep on saying that the Jews in Israel are too secular and, therefore, are not real Jews. Yet you also condemn these vigilante Jews, who are proud of their Jewish heritage. So which is it?

Yes, it's true that Jews worshipped Baal and other gods during the time of Tanach (the Bible), but Hashem (G-d) punished them for doing that.

They are both fundamentalists in their own ways. One hates religion, the other hates seculars , and they both hate everyone else.

Entire books have been written to answer the question, "Who is a Jew?"

The predictable correct answer is, "It depends..."

Is "Jew" a race? Definitely not.

Is it an ethnicity? Definitely not.

Is it a religion? Yes, but with a very broad level of internal acceptance; to wit, there are "religious jews" who are both agnostic and atheist.

Orthodox jews who vandalize the home of a jewish professor with whom they disagree are, literally, "terrorists." That is, they seek to silence and threaten the legal activities of those with whom they disagree by the use of violence and threats of future violence. The classic case of terrorism.

Agree except how can religious jews encompass agnostics and atheists? Is there such a thing as an atheist jew?

how many houses will be bulldozed?

Maybe if the Rabbi had been killed and his body mutilated by these boys, then the boys' houses might have been bulldozed. Or if the Rabbi had been stabbed 18x in the head, or his pregnant wife ripped open. Or if the boys' fathers had said that they were proud of their sons.
