The unsurprising result of weak leadership. Every single thing this administration does is wrong.

Ali Baraka, a senior Hamas official, told Russia Today in a Sunday interview that Hamas demands that the United States engage in prisoner swaps and cited President Joe Biden’s recent Iran hostage deal as a rationale for taking of American captives.

At least 20 Americans are missing and at least 22 are dead after Hamas’ Saturday attack on Israel. President Joe Biden confirmed Tuesday that Americans are among the hostages taken back to Gaza.

Baraka said that there was plenty of precedent to suggest that the United States would comply with Hamas’ demands. “The U.S. conducts prisoner swaps. Only recently, it did one with Iran. Why wouldn’t it conduct a prisoner swap with us?” Baraka asked.
The Biden administration’s Sept. 11, 2023 deal with Iran involved the United States transferring $6 billion to the Islamic Republic in exchange for the release of five American prisoners.

“Biden, the highest authority in the U.S., declared that he stands with Israel against Hamas and the Palestinian people. Therefore, he is a partner to this aggression, he must pay the price,” Baraka said in the interview.

.....or maybe it's time to spin-up those strike package loaded carrier-borne F/A 18s.

Justification for one is as good as the other.....Maybe Hamas needs to consider that.

They took hostages weeks ago. As hostages they were always going to be some negotiation for their release. Otherwise you don't take hostages alive.

So their end games was always to get some of their own released in exchange for the hostages they taken.

Just because some Hamas spokesperson tells Russian journalist something means that they wanted to spin the story in public opinion.

Hamas took American hostages. IF they come back alive, then the deal should be made.

At least one American was freed from being held in Iran.

2 other people were freed by Hamas a couple of days ago

You take hostages as bargaining chips.

If they make it home, then it was an appropriate dial.

Just because Hamas is spinning the story then its because they want to sow discontent and not sound like the bad guys.

your sense of history begins at 2020

uh huh. These swaps are new. Never happened till 2020. sarcasm
You are either obtuse or playing obtuse. Nobody said prisoner swaps are new. Paying a terrorist nation $6B for five prisoners is new, and as stated in the OP, was provided as rationale for taking more American hostages.

Netanyahu and the conservative's judicial reform was far greater a catalyst then anything Biden had done.
