I never understood their use of the word tolerance

To tolerate is to put up with something you don't like. So they tell people to tolerate things. But they do not tolerate people who disagree with them.

They should be honest and instead of saying "tolerance" they should just say "we won't tolerate people who don't say, do and think what we tell you to" because that's what they mean.
