The edict was issued by Canada's Department of National Defense on October 23 in the wake of two fatal attacks against Canadian forces that have been described as acts of terrorism by Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

“U.S. military personnel stationed in Canada will comply with the current Canadian forces uniform policy for off-duty and off-installation wear,” Preston Schlachter, a spokesman for U.S. Northern Command in charge of American troops in Canada, told Breitbart News.

The Canadian directive “prohibits” service members from wearing their military uniforms during off-duty activities such as shopping, eating out, and using public transportation, reported The Canadian Press (CP), which obtained a copy of the mandate.

Soldiers are allowed to wear their uniforms to and from work.

"Let me be clear, we will not hide," said Chief of the Canadian Defense Staff Gen. Tom Lawson, shortly after the Canadian National Defense issued the order, CP reported.


"We will not be deterred, nor intimidated from our duties," added the top Canadian general.

CP noted that the order is not sitting well “with some of the rank and file to whom the uniform is more than an article of clothing, but also a statement of pride and allegiance.”

"I'm not afraid to wear my [uniform] in public," said Canadian Lt. William McArthur. "It has come down that we will not be wearing our [uniforms] in public, but let's just say we respect the decision and we won't be wearing our [uniforms] in public.”

All Canadian and American millitary personel will be issued side arms to carry with them when off duty...and if they are confronted by islamic terrorists...either in groups or in packs...they will kill them on sight...

There's a problem with your argument. A solitary soldier becomes a target. That solider is trained to fight but in order to demonstrate his mettle he needs to identify the enemy. A soldier in uniform walking in a shopping mall clearly identifies himself to Muslims but the soldier has no way of identifying who intends to do him harm. The Muslim walking up behind up can pull his handgun and fire a round into the soldier's head and that soldier is dead without even knowing that he was targeted.

There's no pride at stake here and no pride is worth making a target of soldiers who can't defend themselves against sneak attacks. Look at what happened in Canada. The first attack was a Muslim driving his car into two soldiers. The Muslim knew who they were and targeted them. The two soldiers had no idea that they were targets until the very moments before they were run down. In the last attack the Muslim spotted the two soldiers standing guard at the Cenotaph and fired at them. The soldiers never saw it coming. All they saw before them were civilians.

Politely, there is a flaw in your argument...now the soldiers know they are actually targets...unlike before where it was known but not really understood to be a real threat...I am not saying they should do it all the time...but they should not hide who they are because they are afraid of attack...remember...the British soldier who was beheaded in the middle of a busy street was in civilian clothes...they know who the soldiers are...the key point is allowing these men to be armed at home since we arm them when they go overseas...

Here's how it works: this idea is based on the premise that the bad guys are creeping around behind every bush ready to strike. Leave aside for the moment whether that's realistic and let's assume it is for the sake of argument.

So out you go, proudly sporting your uni. Feeling good. Unknown to you or anybody else, there's a terrorist sitting in the bushes a ways behind you. He catches sight of your uniform, takes aim and opens fire...
