There's no rule against having multiple 401(k) accounts, which can occur when you switch employers or have a Solo 401(k) in addition to a 401(k) from a W-2 employer.
Yes you can end up with multiple 401K accounts if you change employers. You have a choice to keep them separate or do a “rollover” to merge them.
A Solo 401K account is basically an employer account as it is only available to a business owner who has no employees.
