The solution for everything is to just have congress pass a law about it.
Currently congress is trying to mandate that everybody in the US purchase health care insurance. This is part of their solution to the supposed health care crisis.
Let's apply that logic to a few other things.
Homelessness.
How about if congress just pass a law that everybody is required to either rent or purchase a place to live? This will actually accomplish 2 things. The first is that we won't have anymore homeless people, and the second is that housing values will rebound.
Automobile company bail outs.
How about if congress just pass a law that everybody is required to own a vehicle?
New car sales will improve, and this will save the auto companies from failing. People will have to build the cars, so it puts people to work. Additionally, if everybody has a car, then we can quit funding public transportation.
Hunger.
How about if congress just pass a law that everybody is required to spend enough money on food to feed themselves? No more hunger in the US.
Energy independence.
How about if congress just pass a law that everybody is required to have 50% of their energy usage come from renewable and "green" energy sources? They can keep ratcheting up the percentage until the US achieves energy independence. Again, this has multiple benefits. We end up energy independent and reduce carbon emissions. Additionally, think of all the "green energy jobs" that will be created.
Isn't government logic cool, it can answer all of life's big challenges.
