Never saw it - we gave it a try.
The first task is to forgive the low budget, 1990s special effects which are just horrendous. At least there is not a lot of it.
What there is a lot of is wasted space. It starts slow and never really picks up. There is pretty much zero character development, the director just relied on Walken's acting ability to just work.
It is a pretty bad movie that somehow became a whole franchise of bad movies.
I thought - "maybe in 1995 I would have thought it was a decent movie" - I don't think so.

I enjoyed the premise, but the entire production came across as amateurish.
