The problem for balanced conferences is that their teams are at a disadvantage when compared with dominant teams in disparate conferences. Alabama and Clemson may be the two strongest teams in the country, but wouldn't it be more meaningful to have greater geographical representation (i.e., other conference champions) in the College Football playoffs?

It would be pointless.

In the South baby boys have footballs injected directly into their bloodstream.
