I utterly destroyed him by pointing out Trump won 7 out of the 10 largest states by population. Winning the popular vote in the most populous states will win you the most electoral votes. That's why the founders devised a counter to the popular vote, exactly for this reason.

Trump was elected by the majority of the states, not the people, in accordance with the Constitution – no one disputes or takes issue with that.

Had Trump and his supporters been more politically sophisticated and astute, however, Trump would have acknowledged the fact the majority of Americans didn’t want him as president, that his position on the issues was contrary to that of most Americans, and he should have governed accordingly.

Hillary won 3 of the 10 most populous states in the US: California, New York, and Illinois. Since Hillary crushed Trump in California alone by almost 4 million votes, there's no need to get into mathematics here.

In the popular vote winning isn't everything, you have to win where it counts. Trump won the popular vote in states with the correct number of electoral votes.

The popular vote is meaningless, given the founders knew that we couldn't simply elect our leaders by popularity alone.
