Grammys Favor Politics Over Music
By Bridget Johnson, Political Mavens

Two words: Dixie Chicks. And how sad is that? Mary J. Blige clearly deserved to win Record of the Year for “Be Without You.” Not only is the woman a tremendous talent, she is a survivor and an inspiration for all in the music industry. When life threw curve balls at her, she bit the bullet and moved on. She experienced a rocky road, like many musicians, eventually took responsibility for turning her life around, and came out of it a stronger woman.

...when it comes to awarding top musical talent at the Grammys, it should be awarding top musical talent. No political statements, no “take that, red staters!” swings. So Mary J., know you’re a winner. And congrats, too, to L.A.’s own Red Hot Chili Peppers for picking up the most Grammys of their career — you guys rock!

political statements should'nt affect any of it, making a strong political record shouldnt hurt your chances, why not make something more than a catchy tune?

If you're going to hand out awards for supposedly the best and most talented in each musical category, why not do just that and leave politics to the politicians? What in the world does Al Gore, who was one of the presenter at the show, have to do with music?

it reminds of a Simpsons episode.

Homer wins a grammy for his Be sharps Barbershop quartet album

Bellhop: Here you go sir (hands homer his room service and then holds out hand for a tip)

Homer goes for wallet then decides to give his grammy to the bellhop.

Bellhop: Wow! an Awards statue! I'll keep this for.... Oh wait its a grammy. (throws grammy out the window where it hits someone in the head)

Someone: Hey! Don't throw your garbage down here. (throws the statue back up and hits homer in the head.)
