GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - A new advocacy group was launched on Tuesday to help bring police voices into conversations about community safety— ‘Police Leaders for Community Safety.’
The organization’s board is made up of 50 prominent law enforcement leaders from across the country who say they are frustrated with the federal government’s inaction on vital measures that will save lives.
Rick Myers, Vice Chair for the organization and Former Appleton Police Chief said the board members are coming together to voice these issues and increase public safety, representing all chiefs and sheriffs across the nation who have vowed to serve and protect.
”You know the brave men and women of policing run toward the sound of gun fire to protect and preserve human life,” said Myers. “It’s long past time for Congress to demonstrate a similar level of bravery and find bipartisan support to limit the extreme impacts of weapons of mass destruction.”
‘Police Leaders for Community Safety’ will also endorse federal candidates.
