NCAA mulling in-season action after Oregon's controversial late-game situational move helped Ducks beat Ohio State
The NCAA Football Playing Rules Committee is actively “engaged” in examining Oregon's controversial play for possible action.
The Oregon Ducks admitted to intentionally committing a foul on the closing seconds of their win against Ohio State, sparking some ethical controversy regarding the incident. They not only admitted to doing it to burn valuable seconds off the clock, they were proud of it as they announced what they had done to the media.
And in another incident, an Oregon player spit in the face of an Ohio State player, and was promptly thrown out of the game.
He later made and "apology", but when you read it, it sounds like he was apologizing to everyone on the planet other than the player he spat in the face.
“To my Oregon family, I am truly sorry for letting you down. You have shown me the importance of teamwork, discipline, and respect, and my actions in that moment did not reflect these core principles. I recognize that this has negatively affected our team’s reputation, and I deeply regret putting us in that situation,” wrote one part of the lengthy apology.
Sportsmanship in college ball is officially gone.
Does it matter?
