One of the most corrosive features of modern political discourse, and it's deeply present here, is how often people project onto others what they fail to confront in ourselves.

Each side points to hypocrisy, misinformation, tribalism, or double standards in the other, while rarely asking "Are we doing the same? And if we are, do we care enough to fix it internally, or only when it’s someone else’s problem?"

What’s missing is self-accountability. The ability to pause and say “Maybe I’ve been too quick to judge.”, “Maybe my side does this too.”, “Maybe we need to clean our own house before criticizing someone else’s.”

Too often, the goal seems to be winning, not understanding. Defeating, not improving. We demonize rather than dialogue, and in doing so, we lose the chance to build anything better than what we claim to oppose.

The truth is, no movement or ideology matures until it can hold itself to the same standard it demands of others. If we can’t do that , if we only ever police the other side, then we aren’t seeking justice or truth. We’re just protecting our team.

It’s not weakness to examine our your own side. It’s strength.

A mirror is a reflection that renders left right and right left.

I've examined the OP's Kumbaya statement and I have determined.....What a load of horseshit. 😐

If you look in the mirror and don't see a person with resolve looking back at you then you are not looking at much.

You mistake aggression for strength.

Real resolve isn’t refusing to look inward; it’s having the courage to.

It's unfortunate that you are uncomfortable in your own skin.

I suffer from no such malady.
I'm not, because I live what I preach. Maybe you're missing the point. It's about reflection and accountability. It's about being consistent and honest, even when it's inconvenient or uncomfortable.

My take on mirrors:

Mirrors lie. They don't show a true reflection of what you are.

There's a reason why it depicts you in reverse.

That may be but it just comes off as weak.

Anyone who holds themselves accountable for their actions on a daily basis does not need to bother to reflect on their actions all that much.

On occasion a man might say to himself, "damn, I should not have done/said that", learns, keeps it to himself, and moves on.

It really IS that simple. At least it's held me in good stead.

Is there anything specific in the OP that you disagree with?

I thought that link free OP’s offering mere opinions were considered improper starts, here.

Shouldn’t this nonsense be in the badlands?

Care to articulate why it's nonsense? Do you often try to get threads sent to the badlands, or does something about this thread bother you?

I might be wrong, but I think General Discussion allows link free starts.
In the Politics section there is a sticky thread that explains certain forums that require a link.
That doesn't exist here.

It was moved here by a mod. Lol

It’s nonsense as you already know if you read your own OP first paragraph. Your entire OP IS pure silly opinion. It’s fact free and link free.

And your horseshit stinks.

If that’s so, and it may very well be correct, then I still criticize an OP which offers mere stale bloviating opinion.

To say “I believe” that both sides engage in lots of projection is silly without some evidence. It kind of demands an explanation and maybe an example or two.
