This is a 9/11 commemoration tale I cooked up (my last one) inspired by the invasion-optimism films Mars Attacks! and Batteries Not Included.

Enjoy!

It was a bright and commercially-busy day --- September 11, 2001 (9/11). There was nothing outlandish to report. Suddenly, CNN reporters went mad and TV journalists scrambled to cover the story of a passenger airplane crashing into one of the Twin Towers in NYC! There was smoke, fire, and pure panic. If that was not enough to send goosebumps across the nation, a second plane(!) crashed into the other skyscraper of the Twin Towers! Some time later, both buildings came crashing down. Reports came in about another plane crashing somewhere near the Pentagon in Washington and that yet another was potentially headed to the White House. Oddly enough, many New Yorkers reported that their cell phones were losing signals (what was happening?).

No one was more distressed than the ethereal fairies living in the forests of the Pine Barrens in New Jersey (USA). These fairies called themselves the Hope Healers, and they were allied to the likes of Merlin the wizard, Peter Pan (the boy who could fly), and also to the Easter Bunny. The Hope Healers were horrified at the terrorism-gestures (posed by the Taliban) on the helpless victims of New Yorkers trapped in the Twin Towers on that fateful day which no one could forget --- 9/11. The Hope Healers decided to drop little care-packages on the doorstep of numerous residents of suburban upstate New York. Each care package came with a patriotic Captain America (Marvel Comics) figurine doll, a photo of New York in the colonial era, and a prayer-note which read, "Terrorism is not the answer to depression!"
