From an offshore LIP province to the Yellowstone caldera. How a plume changed the geology of the Pacific Northwest. And how the interactions were not at all simple;

He thanks us, loves us and says goodbye.

Tell them you heard it first from Old Rocks.

You have to ever be the silly bastard. The Yellowstone hotspot was a major force in shaping the Pacific Northwest. You are still the overgrown lout sitting in the back of the class, determined to learn nothing, stating loudly, "Pie are round, not square", yuk, yuk, snark."

And?.......I learned that in middle school geology class.

You act as if you are the only one that has a good bead on things.

There's certainly a very strong correlation between the location of the Yellowstone Hotspot and the Columbia Flood Basalts ... but only correlation, we have no cause-and-effect evidence ... as improbable as this sounds, it could be just coincidence the Earth vomited forth lava for 10 million years right next to Yellowstone, and still not be associated with Yellowstone ...

The Cascades are a classic volcanic arc structure caused by the subduction zone just off-shore ... everything between the ocean and Rocky Mountains including the extinct Sierra Nevada Mountains ... evidence shows Yellowstone passed right though this region without either really effecting the other ...

It's just one spot, and that spot isn't even in the Pacific Northwest anymore ...

Why are you afraid? ...

Again, before proving that you know nothing about a subject, try watching the video. The Crooked River Caldera is a direct result of the Yellowstone Hotspot, as are the Siletz volcanics in Oregon's coast range.

No, you did not. At least the evidence presented of the at least 56 million year age of the Yellowstone hotspot.
