It's been known for up to 24 hours now that the second American pilot was successfully rescued. It's amazing to me how far the new cycles actually lag behind real-time events.
With the invention of the podcast we definitely absorbed some benefit of accessibility but at the same time it seems as though we've lost the real time connection to actual events.
The internet and broadcast networks are still awash with paid hitman pieces criticizing the unfortunate fate of the second US airmen. Guest speakers are still expounding on the dangers of rescue missions and the foolhardiness of what they consider to be a war of choice making sure to add politics to their analysis at every opportunity. All of this continues nearly a full day after the rescue of the pilot which seems to be less important news than carrying on the narrative about his potential capture and torture at the hands of the Iranians.... Definitely a pants down moment for the media.
