LOL. I was in high school then. The standard boy cars were red Fieros, or orange GTOs. Guess which were considered cooler?

Hint: It wasn't the Fiero. :eusa_whistle:

My coolness was never called into question.

Actually GTO's were really hard to get back in 1986( at least in my area). I went with a 72 Camaro instead. I managed to avoid barbecuing that one.

Which is why they raised your cool factor by default if you had one. :D

Dare I ask how you managed to barbeque a car?

A recall notice came out for the '84 Fiero. I ignored it, and guess what happened? A rod punched right through the block and started a fire, just like GM said might happen. I was so pissed off at myself for not taking it in for service that words fail me.

Just for future reference, that's not the "smokey flavor" you want for your next barbeque. :eusa_whistle:

I'm sorry.. I'm sure it sucked then, but right now it's amusing...

I can laugh about it now, but back then I was pissed! I went to a rich high-school, but I didn't live in one of the rich neighborhoods. I worked in the family store from age 9, and saved my money since I was 11 just to be able to buy a nice car. basically, I paid $4500 to drive that car for 5 months, and ended up buying a heap anyway. If I had known that, I would've just bought the Camaro when I was 12 and spent 4 years restoring it. Hindsight, eh?
