This was brought up under the general news thread but I think it deserves its own.

Time to let the Palestinians know they lost.

The Israel Victory Project.

The point of this project is to move the discussion away from a 'peace process'. It is the acceptance that the 'peace process' has failed and will continue to fail. It is the realization that Israel offering land or other goodies for peace has never resulted in peace with the Arab Palestinians.

Instead, its time to frame the discussion as "Israel won -- Palestine lost" and then act within that framework.

Some practical, specific ideas include (from the first article):
  • When Palestinian “martyrs” cause material damage, pay for repairs out of the roughly $300 million in tax obligations the government of Israel transfers to the Palestinian Authority (PA) each year.
  • Respond to activities designed to isolate and weaken Israel internationally by limiting access to the West Bank.
  • When a Palestinian attacker is killed, bury the body quietly and anonymously in a potter’s field.
  • When the PA leadership incites violence, prevent officials from returning to the PA from abroad.
  • Respond to the murder of Israelis by expanding Jewish towns on the West Bank.
  • When official PA guns are turned against Israelis, seize these and prohibit new ones, and if this happens repeatedly, dismantle the PA’s security infrastructure.
  • Should violence continue, reduce and then shut off the water and electricity that Israel supplies.
  • In the case of gunfire, mortar shelling, and rockets, occupy and control the areas from which these originate.

To that I would add such things as:
  • not providing medical care to non-Israelis
  • full access of Jews to the Temple Mount, including the right to pray, worship, visit and enter through any gate and the permanent ban of anyone who causes disruption

I would consider other unilateral Israeli actions as well -- such as determining final borders between Israel and Palestine, expansion of Jewish cities and the creation of new ones, etc.

Thoughts? Does anyone think this change of strategy will induce change and resolve the conflict?

Today, the Jewish community is faced with a choice. Will we choose a Judaism that supports freedom and dignity for all Israelis and Palestinians, or will we let the leadership of the establishment define our tradition as incompatible with our values?

Will we continue down the path of isolation and fear that’s destroying the lives of millions of Palestinians and alienating a generation of young Jews? Or, will we create a vibrant Judaism that emerges from the trauma of our past to bring our tradition to life in the present?

We have chosen. We are building a Jewish community that recognizes we cannot be free absent the freedom of Palestinians. No longer will our community be used by American politicians and the American public to justify the violation of Palestinian rights. Like those born wandering in the desert, we are rising from our people’s trauma in order to move us toward the ongoing promise of liberation.

We will be the generation to transform our community’s support for the occupation into a call for freedom and dignity for all.

I thought Jews consider it a blasphemy to enter the temple mount

You are mistaken.
Temple Mount entry restrictions are restrictions on entering the Temple Mount/Haram al-Sharif in Jerusalem, which is a holy place for Muslims, Jews and Christians. [1][2] While it has formally recognized that the responsibility for the site, an Islamic religious endowment, lies under the management of the Jordanian government through the Waqf in Amman,[3][4] the Israeli governmentimposes entry limits to Temple Mount for political and security reasons. In addition, Jewish law imposes restrictions on entering Temple Mount.

It's funny how Muslim invaders require entry rights to the holiest site in the Jewish religion, in the Jewish holy land, while it is under the control of Jews. Meanwhile non Muslims aren't allowed anywhere close to Islam's two holiest sites. Even as visitors and observers. And it's basically the same barabarism and religious persecution with any Muslim holy site across the world. Perhaps we should treat Muslims the way they treat others?
