The irony of California saying they will "protect your rights"

I find it funny that Newsom and the AG in Cali say they will protect their residents' rights from Trump. At the same time, California plans to pass extremely restrictive legislation, such as banning the sale of diesel commercial vehicles and motorhomes and increase the gas tax even more. People will just go to Arizona or Nevada to buy large diesel vehicles, so they're throwing even more tax money out the window.

The Government of California only "protects" those "rights" that it agrees with, like the "right" to mutilate your children, or the "right" of men to compete in women's sports or the "right" to murder your baby right up until the moment of birth.

When it comes to the right of self-defense, free speech or individual privacy, not so much.

CA has DMV laws to discourage this. If you buy a vehicle in another state and register it in CA, they have all kinds of punitive measures in place. Payment of CA sales tax and registration fees being chief among them. Then there is the problem with having to deal with the exorbitantly taxed fuels in that state. I would expect to see diesel fuel becoming increasingly difficult to find in CA as well---much like what happened to leaded gasoline in the 70s.

Wow, all of CA could start living like indigenous peoples of the Amazon basin, but as long as the rest of the world (China/India/Green elites) don't follow those practices, no change will happen even if it was feasible. AGCC is a joke. It is weather. You learn to live with it.

First they take your rights and then they protect them, so you can't get them back. MAGA

Cool, liberals can move to California. If abortions, illegals 1st, crime, homelessness, green energy, drag Queen story time and other liberal stuff is important then ya'll can move to California. Problem solved.

The problem is that they don't. In fact, apparently, they more often leave California and attempt to immigrate to states that aren't shit. Maybe we should start a movement to deport Californians.

Stupid is as stupid does.

Let's take a look at the permanent change of weather here near the beginning of the Colorado River and it's subsidiaries like the Gunnison and more. The old average temperature for here this time of year would be in the teens to the 30s. Instead, it's from the 30s to the 60s. Instead of snow, you get rain. There is no fall buildup of snow or ice. Sounds like a fantastic day at the beach. Now, look at that one of the biggest rivers in the US is doing. It's more than a little low. While it may not affect here so bad it does affect those below us. Lake Powell is about 150 feet lower than it was just 20 years ago. Lake Mead is no better. This means that when needed for fire suppression the water just isn't there. There is enough for the human day to day with some rationing but none left for emergencies. This also means that the forests are dryer than normal and are tinder boxes all up and down from the water sources.

You call it a joke but you have never lost your home to fire. I have.

Lets look at what you said. Yes, it has been warmer--there have been ebbs and flows throughout history--ice ages. Next, I live on the Columbia river. It is fed by a glacier. The glaciers are retreating, again nothing new here, they've grown and retreated long before humans inhabited the earth. The Colorado, sure, the level of Powell and Mead have been going down for decades. There also has been more people and agricultural drains over that time. As for the need for fire suppression. I live in a forest and dread the fire season every year. I've been lucky and practice fire prevention religiously. I know a lot of people who have lost everything. Fire has been as close as five miles from my place three times in the last five years, so I know wild fires intimately. The problem is WEATHER. We didn't cause it. I'm not laughing at it but I am laughing at the ignorance of people claiming it is human caused or that we can do anything about it--indeed it is the epitome of human arrogance and self import. Adapt, practice fire suppression in your case, mitigate the risk. My sincere empathy for your loss of home, but AGCC is a claim that doesn't fly.

I look at the temps from the 1960s and compare them with the last 20 years and there is a stark difference. It's not cycling, it's permanent.

I am also old enough to remember what things were like in the early 50s before the cleanup was happening. Black Snow, smog so bad in the mountains it could kill small children. Mud slides would go for miles because of the trees hydraulic mining done. Rivers so bad that what was left of the fish was floating dead on a sickly film. You see, I am talking about just the area I am from. From what I know, West VA was even worse.

Ike brought a lot of change and that change was also done by JFK, LBJ and Nixon to clean things up. Had we not done it, the air would have been unbreathable and a glass of water would cost a lot of money per glass. You ignore the changes that are happening in the background for the betterment of not only the human race but the planet as well. Even China is having to clean itself up today because their own people are refusing to work in such a deathly state. India is just as bad but doesn't seem to care, let them die.

We have the duty to help. No, not all is caused by Humans but we have the duty to mitigate our input to the problem. To give you an idea, are you aware that when Britain got their own Industrial Revolution (before ours) that was a mini ice age. It wasn't a coincidence that the mini ice age ended at that time. Besides, the Vikings needed the mini ice age to spread out so far and in between. It was one of the reasons that ended their life style.

Try looking at the temps from the 1930's. You need to look at far longer time periods.

The simple facts are that you are experiencing weather. Nothing more.

20 years wouldn’t be a blip on weather chart given the age of the earth. The last Ice Age last for a couple million years.

Cali is a magnet for the lefty wing crazies.

I have no idea why they dont just become their own country and do all their crazy cult **** shit without worrying about the rest of the country.

You keep trying to move the goal posts. Okay, let's look at the period of 1930

Average temp for the US in 1930 was 49.4

Average for 2023 was 55.6.

Do you see a trend here? You don't think an average of 5 or 6 degrees shouldn't make a difference. Well, if the difference is to determine the annual snow fall, 5 or 6 degrees warmer is catastrophic. For instance, the average temp for Texas in June was 2.6 degrees above normal. In the higher countries, we show it between 5 and 6 degrees. While Texas may not have that great of an affect, in the mountains, that 5 to 6 degree increase means lower snow fall. Do that for a few years and guess what, Texas will have to drastically cut back on it's water usage.

The last ice age was actually in the 1790s. We have had ice ages on and off forever. An Ice Age doesn't stop itself. It takes outside sources to stop it. In the late 1700s and 1800s, it was the European Industrial Revolution (yes 100 years before the US had it's own) that put an end to the mini ice age that also ended the Vikings way of life.

If an ice age is left alone, it will continue to get colder. What can change it? Have more than a few Volcanoes go off in a very short time. Or have a major Industrial Revolution. Or nothing can happen and it gets so cold that it bleeds the atmosphere away like Mars did. Venus is the exact opposite where the global warming got way out of hand.

Will that be the 30th or 40th "point of no return" we will have passed since the 1970's?
