On the math SAT, only 0.7 percent of all black test takers scored at least 700 compared to 6.3 percent of all white test takers. Thus, whites were nine times as likely as blacks to score 700 or above on the math SAT.


On the math SAT, only 0.16 percent of all black test takers scored 750 or above compared to 1.8 percent of white test takers. Thus, whites were more than 11 times as likely as blacks to score 750 or above on the math SAT. .

The first clause of the first sentence holds some truth the secound sentence is pure non sequitur. I had a friend who tought in a school that had only advance and guifted childern, the blacks and whites were rughly even, and orentials were slightly a head. The variable is how much the famly valued education. If a family values education they are more likely to give the child what he needs to succeed. If the child values education he will do the work and have the drive to succeed. Then there is the Pygmailion Effect where a person will live up or down to expations where ever thay are set. You have years of blacks being looked upon as being slow and stupid so they lived down to that expation, hence the truth in the statment above. The only thing that the goverment can do to resolve this is to provide the best school enveriment they can, but that will not go far. They well have to convince them selves that they are as good as any one else, and deal with their current reality and not wallow in self pitty. Slavery and Jim Crow are long gone.
