The predominance of Indian software developers and other tech workers is no coincidence. They have shown superiority compared to us Americans in the field of technology. And their math skills are unmatched.

When I have a problem work my computer or phone and YouTube a solution, it’s always an Indian guy helping.

Plus Americans might demand a salary that is too high. .
Cutting these visas would affect us greatly. In a negative way.

It's amazing to me how quickly you tRumpers can change your beliefs.

This has been going on for almost two decades now. And BTW, in large part, there are Americans who could step into a lot of these jobs...but as you've pointed out, the H1B holders will accept a lower salary.
It will be interesting to see what effect AI has on the software development field. This is one of the first places worker salaries can be conserved by employing AI.

I am not against issuing these visas but it points to a systemic problem in this country of employers not willing to mentor and train Americans to grow into these jobs.
And a system that STILL wants to see a college diploma of some sort. It boggles the mind. Unless you are an engineer, doctor, or lawyer, a four year college education is largely unnecessary.

Spoken by someone who has never had to work with Indian tech.

The evidence of the motivation behind the H1B visas can easily be solved, force that only a small percentage of total visas granted can come from any one nation.

Say 5% cap of a total.

India has a strong reputation but they aren't necessarily the most advanced, this is just based on my experiences when learning from others. In fact, the most impressive, detailed and complicated course I took was surprisingly run by a Russian University. It was exceptionally dry in delivery but extremely technical and impressive, more advanced than others but due to the course being from Russians (something I didnt know before I signed up, it was free), it was probably not given a high grade such as courses from Cambridge or Standford do.

For only youtube sources there were many Indian instructors who I learned from and they are quite willing to help others online. Friendly delivery of information and again free, not as dry per se.

If America is REALLY looking for the best, you should parch from all nations, Swedes, Japanese, Canadians, S Koreans, Germans, Israelis, and yes, even some Russians and Chinese.

If they are only interested in Indian programmers, then you know it's to drive the wages down.

The lobbies of the pay by the hour hotels they own always smell terrible.

What the fuck is that about?

Fucking liar.

It's an Indian guy "helping" because their "customer service" boiler rooms are in Bangalore, where they pay them next to nothing.

Wrong.

There is no racial or cultural superiority of any group of humans.
The US has proven to be the best at all fields of technology.
That includes math skills.
That is because the US does not limit anyone bases on traditions.

As a computer programmer, I have always been immersed in high tech, and had to set up and use computer hardware, networks, applications like databases, spreadsheets, etc., and it has never been true that it is "some guy from India" that you need to rely on.
In fact, since India is poorer, they have less experience and do worse at solving these high tech problems.

I agree the US workers do demand higher pay, but that is to our benefit, since then that money is used to buy more US products, pay US taxes, pay US rents, etc.

I am all in favor of immigration, but only if they want to become US citizens and stay in the US.

This seems to be a major contention between those who voted for MAGA and what MAGA promised.

The leadership should just tell them, they will only allow one H1-b for every thousand "asylum seekers," deported.

Indian customer service always wants to sell you something. Enough to get your bank information.

They've sold their soul to a con man who has no principles.

So positions can change on a whim.

That makes no difference if that is what is necessary to win elections and prevent wars.
It is obvious that before running for office, Trump was a liberal, dealing with all races, countries, etc.
The fact the voters are racist make Trump pretend to be racist.
But he still refrained from harming anyone with racist hate, like he started no wars.
Bush, Obama, and Biden all started racist wars.
So then actually the only one who was not really racist was Trump.
Does not matter if one has to act like a con man in order to get the right things done.

That is simply not true.

The problem is -- We don't have enough engineers and tech workers. We have more lawyers than engineers in this Country.

Blame whoever you want.... Academia, our ridiculously stupid Public education system, Media.... Whatever.

But it's got nothing to do with Indians being smarter or better educated. Especially when you consider that the majority of them are educated in the USA.

The H1-b are to our advantage since they want to stay here and keep their savings here where they continue to benefit all of us.
There should be no limit to H1-b.

... because left wing homos do not control education in India like they do in America....

The problem is our tuition is too high.
When I went to college, it was $100/semester.
Now it is over $10,000/semester.
Inflation does not explain the increase by a factor of 100 in just 40 years.
Inflation is more like a factor of 4 at most.

Force employers to pay higher wages and americans will get those jobs.
