The “material support” law includes providing intangible services to terrorist groups. Is promoting their lies a form of treason?

For example, CAIR is tied to terrorist groups - the executive director said he woke up on October 7 and was “thrilled” to learn that 1200 innocent Jews were massacred by HAMAS terrorists.

Or if not CAIR, what about those spreading ISIS lies? Muslim Brotherhood Lies? Al- Quaida?

So where does “free speech” end and treason begin? I would argue that during this active war, anyone being PAID by an Islamist terror group to lie against America and defend The Iranian Terror Regme is providing material support to our enemy.

We have an open society that tolerates this.

Sounds to me like you really can't defend what the Zionist Entity is doing, so let's censor the other side.

Iran isn't my enemy, they are YOUR enemy. Sounds like a personal problem.

Most Americans see this war as foolish and unnecessary. In related news, gasoline just hit $4,00 a gallon out by me.

My answer would be 'not treason' only because I put what I hear out of Washington, both from the left and the right, also near the bottom of the list concerning accuracy. Historically, lies by politicians that supported causes that have cost American lives by the thousands.

Unfortunately this is protected under the first amendment.
Yes, a U.S. nonprofit can receive money from a "hostile" or sanctioned country, but it is highly restricted and requires strict compliance with U.S. Treasury Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) regulations. Funds must not violate economic sanctions, and the nonprofit must ensure no money goes to individuals, entities, or regimes on restricted lists.

I agree but we have activist judges that will ignore that.

$3.09 at my local station. You live in a blue state, don't you?

Antisemitic trolls have descended and are now hijacking this “Clean Debate” thread with anti-Israel lies.

I will bow out until the Jew-haters leave,

Note to Mods: Spreading lies about Israel - AKA “Zionist Hoax,” Congress being “Zionist Occupied Territory,” etc. - is not in keeping with the sentiment of Clean Debate.
Spreading lies about Israel? Israel is not a person yet you want to give it the same standing as slandering the Jewish people?

Which by the way doesn't even compare to the lies you spread and the outright aminus you sprew about Black people. Regularly. Clean Debate forum or not.

I'm sure your knowledge of Islam is just as dismal as your knowledge of people of African descent in the United States.

The current President of the United States has openly professed that Israel should ''rightfully''...I'll say it again... ''rightfully'' hold power over the American Congress while professing his profound disbelief at any notion that it would ever lose any of that, in his stated view, ''rightfully' acquired power over the American Congress...

Now. Cracking open my personal copy of Noah Webster's American Dictionary of the English Language (1828)...

''TREASON is the highest crime of a civil nature of which a man can be guilty. Its signification is different in different countries. In general, it is the offense of attempting to overthrow the government of the state to which the offender owes allegiance, or of betraying the state into the hands of a foreign power.''

Try a not have to "pay to play" source cited when you can, please.

Current definition of treason, legally speaking, is actually engaging in violence to harm or kill Americans, especially if they are USA military or LEO, on behalf of or as a member of a nation or origination that is engaged in warfare against the USA.

Iran has clearly engaged in warfare against the USA the past 46+ years, sooo ....

Try again.
Second hand statements aren't valid evidence or proof.
Provide an unaltered, documented, actual statement by Trump, in his words, saying what you claim.

That was directly from the president's own mouth.

And there is nothing altered about it.

Do better...

Sound quality was poor, and taken out of context.

Such as chase down written text or two;
...
“If you go back 20 years. I mean, I will tell you, Israel had the strongest lobby in Congress of anything or body, or of any company or corporation or state that I’ve ever seen. Israel was the strongest. Today, it doesn’t have that strong a lobby. It’s amazing,” Trump explained.

There was a time where you couldn’t speak bad, if you wanted to be a politician, you couldn’t speak badly [of Israel].

Times have changed, and US politics now has all sorts of critics of Israel, namely “AOC plus three” and “all these lunatics,” Trump added. ...
...
...........
In an interview with The Daily Caller, Trump said that because of left-wing U.S. politicians rallying against Israel and the growing unpopularity of its war in Gaza, the country is losing influence.

“Israel, you would understand this very much, Israel was the strongest lobby I’ve ever seen. They had total control over Congress, and now they don’t, you know, I’m a little surprised to see that,” he said.

Trump, who has been a strong ally of Israel during his presidency, defended Israel’s war against Hamas in Gaza but said he has observed how it has hurt the country’s global image.
...
.....
Former President Donald Trump said during an October 29 radio interview that Israel used to “rightfully” control Congress.

Jewish Telegraphic Agency (JTA) reported that Trump was speaking with conservative radio host Ari Hoffman, who is Jewish, and said: “The biggest change I’ve seen in Congress is Israel literally owned Congress — you understand that. Ten years ago, 15 years ago, and it was so powerful, it was so powerful and today it’s almost the opposite.” Trump argued that Representatives Ilhan Omar (D-MN) and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), who he accused of being Israel haters, now control Congress.

“Israel had such power, and rightfully over Congress, and now it doesn’t,” he added.

The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) and American Jewish Committee (AJC) both criticized Trump for his remarks to Hoffman.

“The accusation that Israel ever controlled Congress is despicable and reeks of antisemitism,” ADL CEO Jonathan Greenblatt tweeted. “No friend of our community or the country speaks this way. This wasn’t a lapse of judgment or a misstatement. It’s a disturbing window into a bigoted worldview.”
...

...........
Those who are competent in the English language will see that Trump is speaking of a past tense and the "owned" is his opinion on influence or lobbying skill.
It is not a legal or authorized ownership as in possession, just influence.

Much in same manner as many will claim Big Oil or Big Pharma "own" Congress.

I'd encourage you to get a grip on reality, but you are a Leftist and that requires high level of delusion and distortion.

You just helped make my case. Thanks!

And so that you are aware, dear patriot, there is absolutely no context whatsoever, no matter which special interest group would like to try to invoke it, that would justify any President of the United States of America to ever openly contend that a foreign nation should ''rightfully'' hold power over the American Congress.

Not yesterday. Not today. Not tomorrow. Not any day...

^^ Also, about this. ^^

Heh heh. I'll tell you something, dear patriot. Natty C has been around here a bit longer than you.

I'm a known entity around this dive.

I'm rather confident that pretty much everybody on the board who has been around here long enough to know knows otherwise.

Heck, that wasn't even a good try. Just the usual response from people who know they've lost the debate in scope.

To be clear, I don't even do that left/right road sign type of gambit. It's so often about as deep as a mud puddle. I'm a bit deeper than such shallow language. I try to be anyway.

I'm more typically prone to spelling out principles rather than spitting oun low-value political cliche's. And the Framers are most often on my side of a given discussion.

But it's okay. It gives me a chuckle.
