The approval was based on data from multiple clinical trials that demonstrated its effectiveness in reducing recovery time for hospitalized patients2.

The Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) also suggests using remdesivir for the treatment of severe COVID-19 in hospitalized patients with low oxygen levels.
