Which side would you have been on?

I would have supported the South German states

The thing that should have happened is Bismark's advice should have been heeded, and Germany shouldn't have taken Alsace and Lorraine.

Without losing those provinces, France wouldn't have had the revenge desire that led up to World War I.

But Alsace and half Lorraine were German speaking

But Alsace and half Lorraine were German speaking

Plenty of French speakers in both areas, borders were like that back then.

Prussia's primary goal was a unified Germany without Austrian involvement. They could have gotten that without taking Alsace and Lorraine, and that's what Bismark wanted.

He got overruled by Wilhelm I and others.

In retrospect, France was right.

A unified Germany started the two worst wars ever seen, and humanity would’ve been better off if Germany had remained a mass of scattered, ineffectual independent states

Hisorians agree that ww 1 was not started by Germany alone, but by several states together

and the unfair versailles treaty led to ww2

in history not many wars were started by Germany,
a lot more were constantly started by France

In an alternate history, Germany was picked as the sucker by the then globalists. The idea of the world wars was to slowly consolidate to a world government.
