All human societies are naturally sharing, cooperative, collective, and communal, so are communist.
Privatized profit is just greed, and contrary to human society.
All you get from greed is dictators, which we have thousands of years and don't need any more.

When you pool public resources to make a public service instead of a private one, the product costs half as much because you don't have to pay an extra double profits layer on top.

The post office, public schools, public transportation, fire dept, etc. are all communist and vastly better and cheaper than private.

Socialism will expand in the U.S for a number of reasons. I maintain the opinion that the worst part isn't economic ironically, it is the control of your life via expanded government. You have to open your mind a bit and consider the association. This control from government is true from administration of your life to the covert, meddling of police apparatuses. One reason it will succeed is that both sides of the aisle are becoming more extreme and both agree to expanded government in your life. This naturally leads to socialism as citizens will say "if government is going to intrude on my llife, i at least want a bounty paid, that of 'free stuff' as it were". A deep red state can become socialist if people ask "why wouldnt I demand free stuff when government and/or agencies are violating our freedom anyways"? They learn to resent central government power and the nepotism associated, so, getting free stuff is more palatable a.demand.
