As a child I believed that God was always personally present near that light.
Although he was also everywhere. But more so near that light.

What did you think of that light as a child?

do Protestants also have eternal lights?
.

Not as far as I know.

Are you talking about the Tabernacle Lamp?

I was taught that it indicates the presence of Jesus Christ, in the form of the Blessed Sacrament, in the Tabernacle.

Quiz -- What days is the Tabernacle Lamp extinguished?

.

do only Catholics have that light?
.

I looked up the question of whether Lutheran churches have a tabernacle, and got an AI answer in the affirmative, and then I looked at photos of Lutheran tabernacles and did not see anything that resembled a Catholic Tabernacle Lamp. No single red candles near the tabernacles.

But apparently, they do follow the tradition of storing the consecrated host in their tabernacle.

When I was teaching my niece some things that might enable her to walk into a Catholic Church and not feel out of place, I especially told her about the Tabernacle Lamp, along with the Holy Water founts at the entrance, and the Stations of the Cross. Also got her comfortable blessing herself with the Sign of the Cross, and the tradition of bowing or genuflecting as a sign of respect when approaching the Tabernacle. I pray for her conversion daily and hope that, should she ever be in a traumatic situation and want to go into the church to pray, she will know that she belongs in a Catholic Church.

Oh, Zebra, I am revising my post. I've looked at some Lutheran churches in my area and found that they do, indeed, use the Tabernacle Lamps. Red candle, just like Catholics use.
