We've seen DEI police chiefs before. They are invariably a clown show and incompetent.
The Chief of the MPD is no different.

Entire "career" with U.S. Park Police, then in May 2022 hired by MPD as "Chief Equity Officer."
Led MPD's "DEI" efforts. She also supervised the Directorate for Employee Well-Being" and the Equal Employment Opportunity Office.
April 2023 -- after 11 months -- named Assistant Police Chief.
July 2023 -- another 4 months -- nominated to be Chief of Police by Mayor.
"Second female, and first Black female to serve in that post" according to Wiki.
And that's why.
