Ok, you are forgiven.

American Pie came out, IIRC, in 1970 or so. Buddy and co were way before my time, but American pie poisoned the radio for months.

The lyrics made less sense than the lyrics to "Louis Louis." "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds:" was fun.

And my sister (7 years older) played it a lot. So I heard it too much way back when. All I know is the thing is tedious, maundering, morose, illogical, and it takes too damn long.

But I got my revenge on my sister for playing it constantly. My kids both like the Weird Al version a lot. She had the joy of them singing the Weird Al lyrics all the way from Portland to Roseburg when she begged for mercy when she took them for vacation one year. The mills of Gd grind slow, but they grind fine.
