It's the duty of every man to defend women. The rule "a man has not any right to beat a woman" was by the way an old rule even before Charlesmagne promoted minnesong for rough warriors. Since this days exists also the rule "a knight who is not able to dance is also a bad warrior". And in generaL: A man who attacks a woman is no man at all.
