Eight days ago, a Sunday, the temperature was 65, and it rained 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch. By Wednesday, the temperatures were running 85 to 95, which they still are. The rain, and ensueing heat were perfectly timed for finishing the blackberries off. I have never seen them bigger, and are they ever good. Already picked enough for one pie. When I am retired, I plan to pick enough of these to have at least 20 quarts put up every year. Nothing like a blackberry pie or cobbler after a meal of venison stew to warm up a cold winters day.
