How changeable is the weather where you are?

For us here in the Midwestern United States, the answer is quite changeable indeed. Last Monday it was beautiful, sunny, and near 70F. Then we had a mix of thunderstorms and snow in the area (yes, both). Then we had a cold front come through and the temps now are in the 20s. Tomorrow our high will be in the 60s, then single digits by Tuesday night.

That's not seasonal swings; it's mid-spring, then winter, then spring again, then cold midwinter all inside of a week.

This is continental weather, especially in the Midwest. Tornadoes and snowstorms in the same area, in the same week!

I saw reports from DC, New Jersey and NYC noting that they went from 80F+ to accumulated snow in 24 hours.

As Mark Twain famously said, everybody complains about the weather, but nobody does anything about it. Little did he know.

This past Tuesday and Wednesday it was 85 both days, on Thursday a cold front came through and temps dropped to the mid-30s with the wind was blowing at 40 mph and it snowed/sleeted for several hours. No accumulation though except on the grass. Pretty typical for this time of year.

Hell, I've seen the same in early April during Spring Gobbler season. I got up on the mountain before daylight one pleasant, but overcast morning, heard a gobbler come off roost and I moved in on him and started working him with the caller. All of a sudden the temps dropped, the wind blew, and it started sleeting!

Usually they just clam up in that kind of weather.....Lucky for me he had his ardor up and I killed him, sleeting like hell! A nice 20-odd pounder with an eight inch beard. :)

By the time I got back to the Jeep I bet there was a half-inch of sleet on the ground and cold as a witch's tit!

We have close to 2ft of snow on the way if they are correct. Haven't had something like this in yrs.

We had over 100 a couple of weeks ago but it's now dropped to about 75 increasing to 80+ next week. Autumn here.

We did nearly the same in the southeastern corner of South Dakota. Went from very cold one day to almost 70° the next day. Makes it a bit of a challenge to know when to plant what in the garden.

I am seeing robins every day and my daffodils are poking up, but people here remember April blizzards.

It's a seasonal 48 w/wind and sunny here now.

It was funny listening to the so-called weather people out of DC on Wednesday, you would have thought the world was ending. We really need to get shed of female weather presenters.
