White people will pretend it wasn't slavery, segregation, racism.

They'll claim it wasn't because no matter how hard black people worked, they'd always end up at the bottom of the pile, that not matter what happened, the police would punish black people more.

It takes a toll.

They’ve had TWO generations of favoritism - for spots in prestigious colleges, for law school spots, for med school spots, for jobs, for promotions - and there’s still a segment of blacks who are total failures and acting like wild banshees?

Compare that to the Jews who arrived on these shores about 100 years ago - impoverished, fleeing horrific and violent antisemitism, not speaking the language, not being able to READ the English characters, taking low-level jobs in sweatshops, living in cold-water tenements. Just ONE generation later, their children were all college graduates or otherwise successful - with homes in the suburbs.

And the Jews of that time didn’t get special favoritism to get into college or jobs. To the contrary, they were blocked from many colleges and subjected to antisemitism in hiring. They STILL managed to succeed. ONE single generation.

If SOME blacks are still abject failures and a menace to the public, despite TWO generations of favoritism, then there’s a different reason for their failure other than lack of opportunity or racism.
