It was a weak Press Conference, that's the bottom line. They had a lengthy discussion and there are so many pressing issues from Iran to Syria, N Korea, even the pipeline which Trump publicly called out. I imagine for Trump the discussion of any Russian activities was an afterthought, he and everyone knows Putin will just deny it anyways, it could only serve to put the discussions off track and sour the meeting.
Wanting to build closer relations with traditional adversaries, well, that's been something he has said even on the campaign trail in an effort to avoid conflict. I don't know how he does it, but I do know, and I have said for years, China is the big threat. If Trump can build closer relations with Russia and harm the Chinese government in the process, I am all for it if done in a reasonable manner.
The real treason has been the sale of U.S industries and Middle Class to China and other global socialist governments as far as I can see. Righting horrible trade deals and imbalance has to be priority number one.
